President , Johns Hopkins Medicine International
Charles M. Wiener, M.D., is the President of Johns Hopkins Medicine International and a Professor of Medicine and Physiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In his role, Dr. Wiener oversees the development of high-impact global collaborations to elevate care standards worldwide and helps deliver personalized, world-class medical care to diverse international populations.
Before becoming president in 2019, he served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Asia Operations at Johns Hopkins Medicine International. During his 27+ year tenure at Johns Hopkins, he has held a number of leadership and educational roles, including chairing the committee that created the “Genes to Society” medical curriculum and directing the renowned Osler Internal Medicine Training Program.
Dr. Wiener is also an associate editor of The American Journal of Medicine and has authored several editions of the Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine Self-Assessment and Board Review. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an M.D. from the University of Miami. Dr. Wiener completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington and fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins.
