Arnab Ranjan Goswami (born 7 March 1973 in Guwahati, Assam) is aprominent Indian journalist, television news anchor and media entrepreneur.After completing his BA in Sociology at Hindu College (University of Delhi)and MA in Social Anthropology at St Antony’s College Oxford, he enteredjournalism in the mid-1990s, initially working for outlets such as NDTV andThe Telegraph.
Goswami rose to national prominence during his tenure as Editor-in-Chief atTimes Now (2006–2016), where he anchored the prime-time debate showThe Newshour and hosted special programmes such as Frankly Speakingwith Arnab. In 2017 he launched his own news venture, Republic TV (underthe umbrella of Republic Media Network), serving as Managing Director andEditor-in-Chief.
Known for his high-intensity anchoring style, Goswami commands significantinfluence in India’s news media landscape, although his approach has alsoattracted criticism for alleged partisan reporting and blurring of commentaryand journalism. Over the years, he has garnered several awards such as theBest News Anchor at the Asian Television Awards in 2004 and “Assamese ofthe Year” in 2010 while his career has also been marked by regulatory andlegal controversies.
