Safe-A-Thon is a collaborative, solution-building challenge designed to spark innovation in patient safety. It brings together multi-disciplinary teams—from hospitals, startups, academia, and beyond—to tackle real-world safety problems with smart, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.
At its core, Safe-A-Thon is about:

Teams of five members from across the nation will converge in Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Cochin, Guwahati, Indore and Pune to crack real-world patient safety challenges and pitch razor-sharp solutions.

SAFE-A-THON 2026 – FAQs for Participating Organizations
What is Safe-A-Thon 2026?
Safe-A-Thon is an exclusive, innovation-driven challenge where hospital teams collaborate to design practical and scalable solutions that enhance patient safety and care excellence. It serves as a prelude to the IHD 2026 conference.
Who can participate?
Any hospital or healthcare organization (public or private) can nominate a five-member multidisciplinary team comprising clinical, nursing, and administrative representatives.
What is the registration fee?
Each team must register with a non-refundable fee of ₹5,000.
What is the competition format?
Teams will receive the problem statement on 5th December 2025. They will work on the challenge through guided virtual sessions and local meet-ups. Each region will conduct a jury evaluation to shortlist the top three teams. The finalists will present their solutions at IHD 2026 (30th–31st January 2026) before the national jury.
What are the key dates to remember?
Team Registration Deadline: 30th November 2025
Guidelines Session: 5th December 2025 (Virtual)
Problem Release: 5th December 2025
Regional Evaluation: 20th December 2025
Final Presentation: 30th–31st January 2026
Are participants required to attend IHD 2026?
Yes. Finalists are required to register for IHD 2026 to participate in the National Safe-A-Thon. Attendance is mandatory for the final selection.
How will winners be recognized?
The top three teams from each regional level will receive prizes worth ₹25,000, ₹15,000, and ₹10,000, respectively. Finalists from all regions will advance to the National Safe-A-Thon, held as part of IHD 2026, in the presence of national and international leaders in patient safety. The top three teams at the national level will compete for cash prizes of ₹75,000, ₹50,000, and ₹25,000, respectively.
