About Dr. Ulfat Shaikh

Dr. Ulfat Shaikh is a Professor of Pediatrics and Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety for Graduate Medical Education at the University of California Davis. She hosts the award-winning global health podcast, Mapping Healthcare. Dr. Shaikh is on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare and is a member of the International Academy for Quality and Safety. Her research focuses on implementation science – the study of how to get evidence-based healthcare practices into everyday use. She was awarded the American Board of Pediatrics Paul Miles Fellowship in recognition of her longstanding contributions to improving the quality of healthcare for children and was named among Becker's Hospital Review’s Patient Safety Experts to Know in 2026.
