1. Facility Management and Safety

Objectives & Take-aways: Health care organizations work to provide safe, functional, and supportive facilities for patients, families, staff, and visitors. To reach this goal, the physical facility, medical and other equipment, and people must be effectively managed. In particular, management must strive to reduce and control hazards and risks; prevent accidents and injuries; and maintain safe conditions. This interactive workshop aims at imparting expert learning and techniques to the participants, with examples of best practices in the field. 2. Clinical Audits & Clinical Pathways

Objectives & Take-aways: Clinical Audit is a quality process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through systematic review of care against explicit criteria and the implementation of change. Clinical audits are universally used as a tool to improve the quality of patient care. Clinical pathways/guidelines are systematically developed statements to assist practitioner decisions about appropriate clinical interventions for specific circumstances. This practical workshop is specifically designed to assist the participants in understanding the various aspects of clinical audits and pathways in detail. Besides the fundamental aspects, the participants will learn the advance techniques of conducting clinical audits and implementing clinical pathways for monitoring and standardizing the clinical care processes during this session.

4. Risk Management in Hospitals

Objectives & Take-aways: Risk management is essential to the quality and safety of patient care, treatment, and services within an organization. There are many types of risks in a hospital setting; for example, risks can include those associated with clinical care and patient safety, such as diagnostic, surgical, or medication errors; risks associated with the environment, such as hazardous conditions; risks associated with operations, such as plans for achieving the hospital’s goals; or risks associated with compliance to standards of care and adherence to laws and regulations. Hospitals need to adopt a proactive approach to risk management that includes developing risk mitigation strategies, with the goal being to reduce or eliminate the potentially harmful impact of known or possible risks. This workshop will help participants to understand the essential elements, i.e. risk identification, prioritization, reporting, analysis and management.

5. Medication Safety Framework

Objectives & Take-aways: Medications are a critical component of the care provided to patients and are used for diagnostic, symptomatic, preventive, curative, and palliative treatment and management of diseases and conditions. A medication system that supports optimal medication management must include processes that support safe and effective medication use. This workshop aims to impart practical understanding of medication safety systems to participants, along with important aspects of antimicrobial stewardship program.
