Air Marshal (Dr.) Pawan Kapoor, a distinguished leader with an illustrious career spanning over 38 years in the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services. Air Marshal Kapoor, AVSM, VSM, and BAR (Retd), is currently the Vice Chairman at Rus Education and Vice Chancellor at Lincoln American University. He retired as the Director-General of Medical Services (Indian Air Force) on December 31, 2017, after a distinguished tenure in the Indian Armed Forces.
An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Air Marshal Kapoor was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps (AMC) in October 1979. Over the course of his career, he has held numerous key administrative and professional positions, making significant contributions to the Indian Armed Forces and the healthcare sector. He served for more than a decade as the Director of Finance at the Academy of Hospital Administration, where he is also an Honorary Fellow.
Air Marshal Kapoor is National Defence College (NDC) qualified and is the only Armed Forces Medical Services officer to have been awarded the prestigious Col Pyarelal Gold Medal. His exemplary service has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the AtiVishisht Seva Medal in 2018, Vishisht Seva Medal in 2009, Bar to VSM in 2017, and the COAS Commendation in 1981, 2004, and 2008. He was also honored with the Order of Royal Emblem by the Sultan of Oman in 1984.
