Dr. N Sathyabhama has over 4 decades of experience in health care, including extensive experience in Clinical leadership, management programmes, performance improvement and execution of quality initiatives. She has a proven track record in using process centred methods as a basis for strategy formulation for clinical quality outcomes, resource management and throughput systems across the continuum, maximizing efficiency.
She became a part of Apollo Hospitals from its day of inception in 1983. In 2004, Dr. Bhama was elevated to the position of Medical Director of Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. Later, she became the Director Medical Services & Quality, Apollo Hospitals, Southern Region, encompassing over 16 Hospitals.
Dr. Bhama helped achieve the First International Accreditation of a hospital in South India by Joint Commission International (JCI), USA in Jan 2006. Seven Apollo Hospitals are now JCI accredited. She is also instrumental in getting NABL, NABH, Nursing Excellence programme and various ISO System certifications in several Southern Region Hospitals. Dr. Bhama spearheaded in setting up the successful liver transplant programme and Robotic surgery programme in Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. She played an active role in setting up the Apollo Children’s Hospital right from planning, designing and starting of services.
She is the recipient of Life Time Achievement award from Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. She has been recognized by the Lioness Council of India for her unstinted clinical work in Healthcare and has conferred the title of “PARIPOORNA SHREE”. She has also completed one of most challenging and demanding trek of Kailash Mansarovar.
