Prior to joining P.D. Hinduja Hospital he had worked for 9 years with Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC), Chennai that is also associated with Sri Ramachandra Medical College (Deemed University). As an administrator he managed the entire operations and administration function of the hospital. Joy was actively involved in the developing and teaching programs related to healthcare management field in SRMC.​
