Dr Thuppil Venkatesh brought unleaded petrol to India during 2000. has innovated several laboratory technology which are currently used across the globe. Has delivered eight special modules on behalf of IAS to medical laboratory staff. Is called as Quality Guru for the diagnostics. Chief architect for the International lead assessors training program. Many of his students have started training centers in India and abroad. Dr Venkatesh has been instrumental in developing lead assessors course for NABL, AERSSC, PAO (RP) and AMLA.
Brief Bio Sketch: Dr Thuppil Venkatesh PhD, FACBI, FIABS, (DOB 12-03-1949) popularly known as Medical Laboratories Quality Guru in India and Lead Man of India,(google search for lead man of India) is one of the four and the last Professor Emeritus at St John’s Medical College Bangalore, India, Dr Venkatesh founder adviser to Association of Health Care Providers of India (AHPI), Founder adviser to Consortium of Accredited Health Care Organizations (CAHO), Founder and National Chairman of the Indian Society for Lead Awareness and Research (InSLAR), Founder President of the International Society for Chronic Hypoxia ( ISCH, LaPaz Bolivia) Founder and National Director to NRCLPI (National Referral Centre for Lead Projects in India), Chairman of the Accreditation body in Nepal (AERSSC), GDG member of WHO in developing treatment protocol for lead poisoning and Visiting professor of Zubeita University Bolivia. Past president of The Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI). Chief Faculty for over 10 years at DAC/EIAC, ENAS UAE. Served as the Principal adviser of Quality Council of India. Has travelled to over 165 countries promoting quality diagnostic services and quality control delivered talks along with West Gaurd. Has trained over 190 medical fraternity in Iraq (Bagdad). Has trained over 800 medical laboratory personnel in the Republic of Philippines. Has delivered a talk on Global warming and climate variability in Islamabad Pakistan. As the chief faculty has trained over 20,000 medical laboratory personnel. Served as invited International speaker on Bio-Rad platform for over ten years.
Dr Thuppil has been serving NABL as lead assessor for ISO 15189, ISO/IEC 17043 for over 15 years and served NABH in the capacity of Principal assessor for over 8 years and Accreditation committee member of Emirates International Accreditation committee (EIAC) UAE, apart from teaching medical students and guiding MD and PhD candidates for over 40 years. Has served in UNIDO and EU. Is currently WHO Guidance development group member. Lead and technical assessor for IAS USA. Adviser to state pollution control board of Karnataka, member expert committee to IPR of GoI. Played a major role in getting the unleaded gasoline to India in March 2000, chaired the meeting to get eliminated in domestic paints and working on preventing lead exposure in developing countries
Has published over 350 scientific papers and has contributed to many text books
Dr Thuppil is the first Asian to receive International science Truth and Honor award in 2010 which is awarded one in two years.. Is a recipient of Arya Bhatta Award, recipient of Awadesh Saran Memorial award, Seth GS Medical College Award, Thukar Memorial Award, CAHO lifetime achievement award. and life time achievement award to name few.
