Maj. General (Dr, Prof.) Atul Kotwal is a medical professional, public health researcher, administrator, educator, mentor, and teacher with significant contributions in the field of Public Health for over the decades.
He is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and received his MBBS, followed by MD in Preventive and Social Medicine. Dr Kotwal has received numerous awards and recognitions for impeccable work and his significant contribution to the Armed Forces and Building resilient health systems.
He has been honoured with the Sena Medal (Gallantry) and Vishisht Sewa Medal (VSM) for distinguished service of a high order by the President of India, who is also the supreme commander of the Indian armed forces. He received Commendations from the Chief of Army Staff and Army Cdr (CC), eight best research paper awards and two best research project awards.
With over 140 publications in indexed journals, he has made prolific efforts and shown extreme devotion to evidence generation and knowledge sharing through designing and undertaking research and providing academic support in the field of public health.
