Prof. (Dr.) Bimla Kapoor
She started Ph.D. Nursing, Diploma In nursing administration and implemented BSc. Nursing nationally and internationally in Nepal, Seychelles and Doha. She has also launched programmes for Doctors, Nurses and Paramedical professionals through distance education. She developed programmes on Adolescent Health and Counselling and certificate on home-based care though distance education was also launched under her leadership.
She has been consultant, eminent speaker, advisor in nursing curriculum development in States of India, Tribhuvan University Nepal, Seychelles, Wisconsin University, Birmingham University, Zimbabwe, Doha, Abu Dhabi HCT university, Bhutan, Maldives, Thailand University, Hongkong are few of the examples. She has presented papers at the national and international level. She is a member of Board of Studies, Examiner of undergraduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D. in Nursing of many universities. She has organized workshops, conferences at State & National Level. Presented papers at State, National and International conferences.
She has completed her PhD from IGNOU as a first scholar, Post Graduation Diploma in Distance Education (PGDDE), M.Phil. in Nursing, MSc Nursing and Bachelors in Nursing from RAK college of Nursing University of Delhi and also several short term courses.
She was the Chairperson of committee of experts in National Nursing and Midwifery Bill 2020 with MOH&FW, Government of India, Chairperson of Nurse Patient ratio in the country, Chairperson on reviewing the guidelines for Nursing development in the country and Chairperson of seeing to the skewedness of nursing institutes in the country by MOH&FW. She was also the first Nurse Director & Professor Nursing School of Heath Science ,IGNOU. 1996-2014 to structure curriculums and disseminate higher education opportunities to nursing professionals through the distance education model. She has receive many awards and accoldates like President’s Gold Medal for MSc Nursing, T. K. Adrenvala prize for research, Nehru Foundation awarded her for Excellence in Nursing, WHO Fellowship as a country representative to Bangkok on Rational Use of Drugs in SEARO, and also received the award for being the best nurse on 12th May2022 on Florence Nightingale’s Birthday conferred by nursing scholar society as patron’s honor.
