Sujayanti Dasgupta

Over the past 24 years, Sujayanti has worked exclusively as an architect and a healthcare facility planner in the medical sector. Her journey in healthcare started in 1998 with a master’s degree in architecture with a Specialization in Healthcare Systems from Texas A&M University, USA. Since then, Sujayanti has been engaged in developing her understanding of the intricacies revolving around healthcare design and how they influence the built environment and its end users – the patient, their families, and the caregivers. She firmly believes that healthy and safe built environments that have been crafted with careful deliberation and design have a direct and positive impact on the welfare of its users, operations, efficiency, clinical outcomes, and financial success of all healthcare facilities.

Sujayanti ‘s exposure to healthcare design in different parts of the world like the United States of America, the UK, Singapore, and the Caribbean, as well as in Southeast Asia including India has provided her with the opportunity to become a leading thought leader in the arena of healthcare facilities planning and design. Having worked in several different countries her journey has been enriched by lessons learned from being able to compare and contrast the drivers of healthcare in diverse socio-economic cultures. This has also served as a platform for her to become well-versed in global healthcare standards with respect to Facility Design like Joint Commission, USA, NHS, JCI, NABH, etc.

She is also an avid writer and speaker on healthcare and patient safety-related issues like Fire Safety, Infection Control Sound Mitigation, and their impact on the most fragile of patient populations in the ICUs. She also strives to simplify the sustainable development of healthcare footprints centered around commonsense passive methodology layered with smart solutions and a robust plan to measure outcomes.

During her tenure as Vice President, Healthcare at HKS Inc she led teams that focus on delivering sustainable solutions for healthcare projects around the globe. In 2015 she decided to turn entrepreneur and cofounded WARD FOUR which is a healthcare focused design team based out of Bangalore. She serves as the MD and Healthcare Lead in the company. She continues to enjoy working with large and medium healthcare groups around the nation as well as in Southeast Asia and Africa.
